I can't connect .. what should I do ??

There can be many reasons why dialup connection fails, eg. a noisy phone line, or engaged tone (extremely rare but does happen), so it's always worth trying a couple of times.
Check the following:
Make sure the phone number you are dialing is correct. You should have been given that when you signed up for service.
User name should be lowercase .. this is the number one reason for having trouble loging on.
Password should be as per your choice on signup, which was sent in the signup confirmation email. It should also be lowercase.
If you are still having problems connecting then call (219) 524-1000 for additional support.

I'm having problems connecting to download my email .. what should I do ??

If you are able to connect to the Internet (eg. to browse websites) then the problem is probably to do with the setup of your email account details in Outlook or Outlook Express.
Select Tools, Accounts, and check that everything is setup as follows:
Incoming mail: pop.elkhart.net
Outgoing mail: smtp.elkhart.net
User name: yourname@elklhart.net (make sure you enter this in full; not just the first part of your email address) Password: as per your choice (see signup confirmation email)
(If you've forgotten your password, or are still having problems accessing your email, then you can email support@elkhart.net or phone (574) 524-1000.

I've forgotten my email password .. what do I do ??

It's the same password that you use for dialup access, and is included on the signup confirmation email that you were sent. You can email support@elkhart.net or phone (574) 524-1000 if you still cannot find it.

I'm going be away from home. Is there anyway I can get my mail on another computer ???

YES ! Open a browser on any computer and navigate to http://mail.elkhart.net .. Enter you username and password and you can read/reply/send email just as if you were home.

How do I get newsgroups ??

Outlook Express:
Open your Outlook Express. Choose Tools at the top, then Accounts. Click on the NEWS tab.
Click on Add, then NEWS. The Add New Account Wizard will open. Answer each question, clicking NEXT after each question:
Your name: put your first name or a nickname on this line E-mail address: Your e-mail address
News server: news.elkhart.net
Password: zippo
Then click FINISH. Click CLOSE to close the accounts window. To read news, click on news.elkhart.net on the list to the left and choose your newsgroups from there.
Netscape Messenger:
From inside Netscape Messenger, Go to EDIT and then PREFERENCES. On the left hand side, note the plus or minus sign next to "Mail and Newsgroups".
If it is a plus sign, click it to display a list of further options and scroll down and click the "Newsgroup Server" option. If it is a minus sign, just scroll down the list and click the "Newsgroup Server" option which will already be displayed.
On the right side at the top of the window, click "Add". Enter the newsgroup server name as "news.elkhart.net" without the quotes. The port number 119 should already be there. Leave the two check boxes blank and Click OK to return to Netscape Messenger.
Then click on news.elkhart.net in the list of folders on the left side of the Messenger screen. Click File, then Subscribe, and a list of newsgroups will download. This may take a while, as we have over 60,000 groups. Once the list is down, you may select the groups you like and download and read/post messages.
